This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Gulf County, Florida for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
Winter snuck up on us way too fast this year! I recently visited Florida for the very first time and I have to tell you that just as SOON as I got back….we were struck with snow, freezing rain and with the wind chill, we were at sub zero temps! I can NOT wait to get back to Florida! I want to visit Gulf County, which is located in Northwest Florida. There are 43 miles of natural shoreline…it’s a great place to spend a winter vacation with family or friends.
It’s what you’d call the “natural side” of Florida. No high-rises or busy highways. Just beautiful white-sand beaches and gorgeous sunsets – on the Gulf of Mexico and St. Joseph Bay. It’s truly a “no worry, no hurry” destination! When we go, I can’t wait to visit Cape San Blas. The sunsets from there are magical. They’re actually known as the #championofsunsets. I need more warmth and beautiful sunsets this winter!
I want to visit the Dead Lakes and check out the St. Joseph Bay Buffer Preserve. Oh, and you might spy the occasional ‘gator! I love to fish but never got the chance to fish while I was in Florida. I did see some people fishing though, and I was jealous! I could cast a pole and sit for hours!! In the evening, it would be SO nice to build a bonfire on the beach at night when it’s cooling off. Sitting around a warm fire, with the smell and sound of the ocean and seeing the beautiful stars sounds like heaven! Right?! Picture perfect!
Just some funny facts that I find amusing…there are 2 time zones, only 2 stoplights (that sounds like my home town!) and spotty Wi-Fi. It’s truly the spot to go and unplug, unwind and enjoy some down time with family or friends. I love being able to take a gorgeous vacation yet still have that small town vibe. No hustle and bustle. Nor the need to feel like you “need a vacation from your vacation”! You can actually see their awesome Pinterest board with loads of local recommendations. If you connect with them on Facebook and Twitter you can see tons of other visitors and locals alike talking about all the fun things to do there.
The beaches in GCFL are consistenly ranked in the top ten US beaches to bring your pets on vacation. Your pets are always welcome on the beach (as long as they’re leashed) and most of the rental homes will roll out the red carpet for your furry friends! I know my 2 dogs would LOVE some beach time too. It’s not too often that you’re able to take your dogs with you on vacation, right?!
If you’re itching for a great winter vacation, Come visit GCFL – it’s your ticket to fun in the sun. January through March are the coldest months of the year so that’s the perfect time to get away and soak in some sun!
