I’ve talked a little bit off and on here on the blog about my family’s attempts to recycle. I wouldn’t say that we’re “green” but we’re certainly doing more than we used to and I’m always interested in finding new ways to reuse things vs. throwing them out. Terracycle is an upcycling and recycling company. They collect product packaging that is hard to recycle, like those Capri Sun Big Pouch drink packages and even potato chip bags and repurpose them into really cool products that you can purchase.
They make things like lunch bags, backpacks, tote bags and more! My son loves Capri Sun and he goes through them like water! I’d really like to try the new Capri Sun Big Pouch Strawberry Kiwi flavor. That’s his favorite! I’m excited to start sending the packaging in to Terracyle! You can send in your own recyclables and be rewarded for doing it! Redeem points for gifts, or donate the cash payments to your favorite non-profit or even your local schools!
Check out this super cool contest below!!!
Terracycle has worked with Capri Sun for quite some time now and together, they have come up with a Mission involving the guys on American Pickers on the History channel. YESSS! I love that show!! Capri Sun and Walmart are hosting a fun contest! You’ll never guess what the winners get!!
The contest winners (and 3 of their guests) will get to travel to Nashville to meet and do a half day pick with Mike Wolfe, creator and star of American Pickers on History. Yup! You heard me right! Then 100 other winners will get Capri Sun Pickers Prize Packs, including the Kid Pickers Book, a Messenger Bag, magnifying glass and more!! Just click HERE to enter the contest. All you have to do is submit a photo of something cool that you’ve found while picking!
Here’s a few of our favorite picks that we’ve found over the years!
Night Before Christmas Book from the year I was born!! LOVE IT!! Plus it’s a Golden Books book.
Recycling doesn’t mean that you have to go all out and never buy anything plastic again! That’s just not reasonable for us. I do, however, think that acknowledging WHAT and how much we throw away can open our eyes. There are some small things that we do now…like reuse diaper wipe containers, coffee cans and creamer bottles. You also wouldn’t believe how many ways you can reuse plastic bags! If I have plenty at the time, I’ll donate the rest instead of throwing them away.
The biggest one for me is KCups. I drink too much coffee and I can just envision a huge heap of those little plastic cups piling up in a landfill somewhere. All because of ME…haha! Now, I use a reusable coffee filter. No regrets! In what ways do you recycle at home? I’d love it if you left a comment telling us. It’s a great way for others to get new ideas!
