How You Can SAVE & GIVE with Coupons.com This Memorial Day #BeTheEnd

May 22, 2015 by Jenni 42 Comments

Disclosure: This conversation has been sponsored in partnership with Coupons.com. All opinions, including my love of saving money and giving back, are 100% my own.

family-shopping

Memorial Day is coming up and I always look forward to spending a long weekend with family, sort of kicking off summer. Memorial Day is also the perfect time to score some really great deals!

This past week, the moms at Moms Check In have been talking about simple ways to give back. We discussed toy drives, doing charity 5K’s with family, food pantries and other ideas. It just feels good to be able to give back when we can. The world offers us so much, so we should repay in kind anytime that we can!

This month, Coupons.com makes it even simpler to give back. And the best part? You can give back to a worthy cause and save some money shopping at your favorite stores. All you have to do is go to Coupons.com/BCRF and use any offer on the page. When you do, Coupons.com will give 10% of your purchase price to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).  The math is simple: let’s say you buy your family some new clothes at Kohl’s for the summer. You total pre-tax price is $100. Thanks to your purchase, Coupons.com will donate $10. You can now feel good knowing that your purchase is helping to find a cure for breast cancer.

I’ve been scoping out their sales and there are a few I’m taking advantage of, including the 50% off kids clearance at Target! There’s also a $5 off a $25 purchase at TOMS! Ummm, summer is here and I’m totally buying a new pair of TOMS!!

CFC_BCRF_618x516

Coupons.com has cash back offers, coupon codes, and product deals for your favorite stores including Macy’s, Sephora, Gap, and more. With Memorial Day sales coming up, this is a great time to really save and give. The money from your purchase will go towards funding a year’s worth of breast cancer research hours, totaling at more than $104,000!

Throughout the month of May, shoppers will have access to qualified offers housed on a dedicated section of the Coupons.com site, www.coupons.com/BCRF. When shoppers use these offers to save, Coupons.com will donate 10% of the pre-tax transaction price to BCRF to help fund the critical breast cancer research needed to find a cure – totaling up to $104,350 (2,087 hours at $50/hour).

About Breast Cancer Research Foundation

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) advances the world’s most promising research to eradicate breast cancer. Founded by Evelyn H. Lauder in 1993, BCRF has raised more than $550 million to fuel discoveries in tumor biology, genetics, prevention, treatment, survivorship and metastasis, making it one of the largest non-governmental funders of breast cancer research in the world. This year, BCRF is investing $58.6 million in research, to support 226 researchers at leading medical institutions across six continents, including $11.6 million to the international Evelyn H. Lauder Founder’s Fund focused on metastasis. By spending 91 cents of every dollar on research and public awareness programs, BCRF remains one of the nation’s most fiscally responsible nonprofits. BCRF is the only breast cancer organization with an “A+” from CharityWatch, and has been awarded Charity Navigator’s highest rating of four stars 13 times since 2002. 13 Guaranteed Ways to Stick to your Grocery Budget

September 17, 2014 by Jenni 166 Comments

I am an IFOF Ambassador for our “Affordable Food Tips For Your Family, From Our Family Series”. This is a sponsored post in cooperation with IFOF (Indiana Family of Farmers).

grocery budget

Are you struggling to stick to your grocery budget?

Kids are back in school. This one has soccer practice {and he’s hungry}, that one has cheer {and she’s hungry}….oh, and this one just remembered to tell you you have to bake 5,211 cupcakes for the classroom by tomorrow!!! Gahhhh! Does this sound like you? Grocery budget is all out of whack?!

It’s hard to save on groceries at times…but we need a plan, man!

Convenience is expensive. That’s why we spend twice as much for milk in a “convenient” store than you do at the grocery store, people!!! Americans (well, me!) love convenience but I love my money more. I was actually surprised to find out that Americans spend less of their income on food than other countries?! I had no idea until I read about it through my IFOF (Indiana Family of Farmers) ambassadorship. With the grocery affordability series I’m part of, I’ve been learning some wonderful things!  I wrote a post about it, and also included a 7-day meal plan, which all together was just under $50. Just goes to show that we can spend less on groceries than we think!

 Affordable Food Tips (1)

Plan your Grocery Budget…and stick to it!

I’ve learned that planning – or at least STARTING a plan can and does save so much money, and TIME! Don’t forget about time!! I wanted to share some tips to help you SAVE some time and money and how to stick to your grocery budget, especially during this crazy and hectic time of year. Put your grocery budget back to work for YOU! Then save that exra money you would have spent for datenight!! Or donuts…Yeah, go with donuts! And coffee. And maybe a mani/pedi. Just kiidddding!

Okay, so here are some tips to help you stick to your grocery budget when life is just crazy and hectic! Also, remember that you can still eat healthy on a budget!

13 Guaranteed Ways to Stick to your Grocery Budget

  • Prepare a weekly menu. (breakfast, lunch and dinner)
  • Make your shopping list according to your menu(s), and stick to it.*
  • Make only ONE trip to the grocery store through the week (so don’t forget the coffee, bread and milk!).
  • Never go to the grocery store hungry. EVER.
  • Cook dinners that are freezer friendly.
  • Make double or triple batches of freezer friendly meals to heat up for busy weeks.
  • Slow cooker meals save so much time and you always have leftovers for the week.
  • Pack snacks/drinks into the kids’ backpacks or gym bags for quick after school/before practice or games.
  • Buy snacks like chips, crackers, nuts, in bulk and portion out in snack bags vs. buying pre-packaged.
  • Buy meat in bulk or family size packages. Separate and freeze. Usually the more you buy, the less it costs per lb.
  • Use your store loyalty programs or savings apps, and coupons.
  • Make coffee at home in the mornings vs. hitting Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts.
  • If you or your family members make waves about the drive-thru spending, give each member an allowance weekly and once it’s gone, it’s gone! This includes your “running late” coffee stop in the mornings.

* When making your shopping list, be sure to include the extras like snacks, condiments, bread, milk, and other food staples.

Do you have other ways to save on your grocery budget during the busy times of the year? We’d love to hear them, make sure to leave a comment below!!
