best stain removal tips

Looking for some of the best stain removal tips?

Honest to goodness….sometimes it’s harder than heck to get stains out of clothes, especially kids’ clothes. I’ve learned over the years how to tackle some of the worst ones but it has always been trial and error. Between mud, dirt, grass and who knows what all else…well, you know. You’ve got kids too, right?!

Here are some of the best stain removal tips from our awesome-sauce Moms Check In mommas! If you have any great tips, PLEASE leave them in a comment below! We want to hear them! P.S. We have an awesome Twitter party coming up next week with Dreft and you could win some awesome prizes. Make sure to RSVP below!

Amanda-626x1024“Cold water! As soon as you can with a stain get it in some cold water and use a little stain remover. Hot or even very warm water can set the stain.”

“ I pre-treat everything that needs it, but if it’s going to be awhile before it gets in the washer…I keep a small pail with a lid filled with water and stain remover or detergent. That way it doesn’t dry out on me before I can get the stain out. Once the stain dries, you’re in trouble!! I also keep an old toothbrush in the laundry room to scrub out any gunk!“

LindsayHeadShot3Border-300x300“My best tip, and one I’ve learned the hard way (multiple times – I’m a slow learner) is to make sure the stain came out in the wash before you put the garment in the dryer. Once you dry it, it’s kind of set in there and really hard, if not impossible, to get out.”

stephanie“Oh my word I am the one that needs tips. Never buy white shirts? Eat with a bib? Hope for the best? I have learned over many ruined clothes to look for stains and pre-treat them, check pockets twice for tissues and use good quality cleaning products.”

“I’m the mom of two non-stop kids, one who likes to make mud pies and one that likes to wear her food. Both together give me a run for my money on dirty laundry. So, what do I do at the end of the day when their clothes are covered in stains? My best laundry stain removal tips are relatively simple, because I like easy. My first tip is to put a stain-treating spray on it as soon as you can. Even if you aren’t going to wash the clothes that day, put the stain-treating spray on it first and leave it until you’re ready to wash. My next tip is to soak the clothes for a few minutes in the washing machine. Most washing machines have a Pre-Wash or Soak setting and that’s what I’d do after pre-treating the stain and before running through the regular wash cycle. I have a few more tricks up my sleeve, but these are my go-to favorite tips for battling the laundry stains.”

Save Time on Laundry with Suavitel Fast Dry Liquid Fabric Softener #FastDrySaveTime

October 20, 2014 by 690 Comments

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #CollectiveBias

With a little one in the house there are times when I feel like all I do is laundry.  The washing and drying and folding load after load takes so much time.  I’m always dreaming of a way to make my laundry work take less time.  When I heard about Suavitel’s Fast Dry Fabric Softener and it’s claim to dry clothes 30% faster I was excited to find it and give it a try.

Suavitel Fabric Softener

We do a great deal of our shopping at Walmart and on a recent trip I ran through the laundry needs isle to see if they had the new Suavitel Fast Dry and sure enough it was on the shelf!  They had 2 scents to choose from.  The Magical Morning Sun (which I purchased) and Fabulous Field Flowers.  The Fast Dry product comes in 2 sizes, 135 fl oz and a smaller size.  I purchased the 135 fl oz bottle for around $7.

I’ve used the product several times on different types of laundry – clothes, towels, and sheets.  It’s simple to use by just adding the right amount to your machine at the final rinse cycle.  The cap is clearly marked to show how much to add based on the size load I’m doing.

While I noticed that the everyday laundry does seem to dry faster, I recently had an experience that made me grateful for faster drying laundry.  I had a sick little one and like so often happens when kids are sick, I found myself needing to change pajamas and bedding several times in a short period of time.  I needed the clean dry sheets and pajamas from the dryer and needed them fast.  Usually a full load of laundry in our older machine would take 45 minutes to an hour to dry completely.  I checked the sheets after 30 minutes and I was thrilled to find the sheets and jammies were already dry! This meant I could get my guy back to bed and resting quickly.  This was the moment I realized Suavitel Fast Dry really does dry clothes faster.

This boy, though. I big puffy heart him! ❤️

I was able to spend extra time snuggling my little one instead of waiting on laundry and that makes me so happy!

As I said, I have used the fabric conditioner on everyday clothes and towels as well.  I love the sent of the Magical Morning Sun.  In addition to the laundry drying faster, it smells great!  It also leaves my laundry softer and things like towels seem fluffier.

I love that faster drying laundry means I have more time to do other things like snuggle my child, have a cup of coffee and visit with a friend, or work on one of my many projects for the upcoming holidays.  #FastDrySaveTime  I also love that the faster dry time means my dryer isn’t running as long.  That means a savings on my electric bill too!

Suavitel Saves Time

Now that my laundry is done, I’m going to relax with a hot cup of coffee and a good book!

What would you do with all the free time that you save with Suavitel Fast Dry?

Laundry 101: Caring for Delicate Garments

December 27, 2013 by Jenni 347 Comments

The pace of life today does not leave much time for taking care of fussy, complex items. Clothing in particular has been made increasingly easy to care for because people do not have the time or inclination to take care of clothes that require more than a straightforward cycle in the washer and dryer. Even as shirts, jeans, and work clothing has become simpler and easier to care for, there are still many items in a woman’s wardrobe that will benefit from gentler handling.

caring for delicate garments

Bras, panties, plus size hosiery, and other intimate garments are used on a daily basis and can quickly wear out if not cared for correctly. Since many intimate garments are expensive to replace, caring for them correctly becomes a matter of economy. You can greatly increase the useful life of your intimate garments by following a few simple principles.

Buy multiples

Since intimate garments get used more than just about any other article of clothing in your wardrobe it is to your advantage to buy lots of them. Women know just how hard it is to find bras or plus size stockings that fit well and look great so when you find a brand that you really like, stick with it. Having many pieces will help you spread out wear and tear, too. If you are trying to spread out daily use among just a few intimate items then you will find that these few items wear out very quickly. Having more items allows you to spare each of them from overuse.

Wash in dedicated cycles

Your washing machine has more settings than simply hot and cold. Delicate or gentle wash cycles are there for you to use on garments that require careful handling. Wash your intimate items on a dedicated cycle so that they can fully benefit from the laundering process. You might find it helpful to invest in a particular detergent. Many of the cleaning ingredients found in general use detergents may be too harsh for these delicate garments. Consider purchasing a bottle of gentle detergent to use on these dedicated gentle wash cycles.

A delicate wash cycle can be used for:

  • Bras
  • Panties
  • Hosiery
  • Evening gloves
  • Silk blouses
  • Slips and camisoles

If you only have a few delicate wash items then it might be a waste of time to wash them separately. You can still get them clean without simply tossing them in with your jeans and socks. A laundry bag is a lightweight bag made of mesh that will hold your delicate items apart from other things in the washing machine while still allowing them to get clean. This will prevent the items from getting damaged and will  preserve their quality. Laundry bags can be purchased from well-stocked department stores, specialty house goods stores, or on the Internet. You can also make your own if you have some soft polyester mesh.

Think about appropriate storage solutions

Storing your delicate intimate garments correctly is just as important as washing them correctly. Look for storage solutions that keep these items separated from other things. Do not store your intimate garments with jewelry or other items that could catch or snag on fine fabric. Boxes and bins can be used inside drawers to create a storage area that is set apart. This will help keep your intimate garments clean and organized.
