Banana pudding in a jar

Banana Pudding in a Jar Recipe

My sweet mom used to make banana pudding every single year for the holidays. The kids and grandkids all depended on it. I have her old blue bowl that she used to make it in – and now I’ve picked up the tradition.

My nephew just asked me the other day if I’d make it for him for his birthday. Yeah, his birthday came and went — and I still owe him that banana pudding. Thank goodness I’m the fave aunt, or I’d so be getting the stink eye from him!

I don’t know about you, but I {love} anything in a jar! They’re just much more fun and festive, dont’cha think?! So, here’s this cute little banana pudding in a jar recipe that’s sure to be the perfect idea for your next party, holiday, or heck – even weeknight dessert at home!

So – here’s the “nanner” pudding recipe and if you don’t already have little jelly jars to put them in — grab some at your local store or here on Amazon! Also, for your convenience (and because I’m just so stinking nice!) there’s a printable recipe further down below in case you’d like to print and stick it back in your recipe box!

2 cup Milk
1 cup crushed Vanilla Wafers
2 Egg Whites

Put a 1/4″ layer of crushed wafers in bottom of jars.
Add a 1/4-1/2″ layer of pudding.
Then a layer of bananas.

Repeat the layers.
Preheat oven to 350.
Whip the egg whites with electric mixer on medium until frothy.
Add the cream of tartar and increase the speed. Slowly add the sugar and whip until they form a soft peak.
Spoon the meringue over the top of each jar sealing it to the sides.
Bake the puddings for 5 minutes or until the meringue is puffy and brown.
Cool on a rack for 1 hour and then refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

FYI: You could totally skip the egg white process of whipping and then baking the meringue and just use Cool Whip instead if you prefer. We’ve done it both ways….just depends on what kind of mood you’re in!
