Did ya’ll have a nice Christmas? I sure hope so! We did…we ate, ate and ate some more! Christmas Eve was spent at my house with my husband’s side of the family. We had dinner, played the dirty Santa gift exchange and then played some fun games. I snapped a few pics of us playing at the kitchen table. My brother in law had entirely too much fun with the foam fingers from our new Pointing Fingers game. This game was a blast!
Then before everyone left, we did a quick family photo. My sweet mother in law is sitting in front. We love her so much!! That’s me standing behind her with the navy blue Tommy Girl shirt and little man standing beside her. The hubs is standing to my left (your right) in the tan shirt. Isn’t he so handsome!!
Later that night, we went to my sister’s house and exchanged a few gifts between the kids. She always gets all the kids something. Little man was beyond happy with his Sully from Monters University that they bought for him. I gave my sister a pretty scarf and she gave me a pair of super soft and warm pajamas…I love getting new PJ’s for Christmas!! They also gave my husband a new Duck Dynasty coffee mug. He was thrilled!
We made it back home in plenty of time for Santa’s arrival. We did the customary tradition of new Christmas PJ’s, reading of the Night Before Christmas, leaving out of the cookies and milk and then bedtime. Eli fell asleep with his stuffed Sully that he got from Aunt Mikki and Uncle Ronnie.
Now it’s time for the elves to clock in. They quickly pulled out all the gifts, wrapped, put toys together, stuck them under the tree and got the stockings ready for Santa to fill. Needless to say those elves had to take a nice dose of Advil before bedtime. They were pretty sore from the busy day and night!!
Just a short few hours later…BAM!
Those feet came barreling down the hallway at 5:30am. It’s not even DAYLIGHT yet…yawn. Need coffee. I think my eyes were closed for a millisecond before it was time for the paper shredding to begin.
Got the cinnamon rolls in the oven and now the caziness begins. Paper flying through the air, lights, noises, and pure success. It was a fun morning for little man. I was tickled to death to get my KitchenAid Mixer!! I’ve been wanting one for forever. My old hand mixer smelled like it was going to burst in flames at any moment, everytime I used it. I’ve already made about 8 dozen cookies and one cake, LOL!
Hello beautiful…
Hubby was pleased with his Bass Pro giftcard and some other random nerdy things he wanted. We were blessed this year to be able to give gifts to other family and friends too. It feels good to be able to give. My husband was also surprised by a very unexpected gift. His best friend passed away earlier this year and his family gave Dale his Christmas ornament that they put on the family tree every year. We will treasure that gift forever!!
Christmas day we got together with my side of the family. As always, all the teenagers in the family wind up with an arsenal of Nerf guns and have all out war IN the house. Craziness, I tell you! Nerf darts were pinging off of everything and everyone in the house. We were more laid back this year (as far as food goes, NOT the Nerf war) and just had sandwiches and dessert. Much more relaxed and no worries with all the women having to cook a ton! We really enjoyed it!
Another round of dirty Santa was played at my family’s Christmas get together. They all made fun of me…said I was a little too thrifty because I used a paper grocery sack to wrap one of the dirty Santa gifts. I thought it was a great idea!!! My sister actually Facebook’d it…haha! I wound up with a box of bullets (ugh! Go figure, with a family full of shooters/hunters) and the hubby ended up with a car detailing kit. We came back home to a messy shredded Christmas wrapping paper filled floor and went to bed! The cleanup would have to wait till the next morning. I was really hoping Santa’s elves would have came back and cleaned up the mess while I was asleep. Nope. That didn’t happen.
Now we have the New Year to look forward to!! We’re sending you best wishes for a Happy and Healthy New Year…from our house to yours!
