Are you planning a roadtrip with the family or your girlfriends? If you’re a foodie (like me!) then you should follow my lead and take an Alabama Roadtrip, just like I plan to do!

I love southern food – and there’s none better than Alabama BBQ! There are several BBQ joints that have been inducted into the Hall of Fame, but I wanted to share the top 5 Alabama BBQ joints!

Now, don’t get me wrong. There’s so much more to Alabama than just the BBQ. They have some of the most beautiful beaches as well – and FULL on Southern hospitality ya’ll. One of my most favorite movies on the planet is Sweet Home Alabama.

LawLer’s BBQ

1506 Highway 72 East, Athens, AL 35611
(256) 233-1818

So what makes a great barbecue sandwich? For many, it’s tender and juicy pork with a distinctive smoked flavor, plus a mix of inside and outside meats, tucked in a soft bun substantial enough to not fall apart. LawLers offers just that, and you’ll find one of the best sandwiches anywhere at this fast-food-style barbecue joint.

Jim ‘N Nick’s

1908 11th Ave. S.
Birmingham, AL 35205
(205) 320-1060

Walk into any Jim ’N Nick’s Bar-B-Q location for the first time and you’ll notice that it isn’t your typical barbecue joint. The brick-and-wood décor and blues and Southern rock playing in the background offer a slightly more upscale experience than you might expect. The basket of hot and crusty cheese biscuits serves as a complimentary appetizer to any meal. The meats include a parade of Southern barbecue: pulled pork, Carolina-style pork and more.

Easy Cheesy BBQ Pigs in a Blanket recipe!

Cheesy BBQ Pigs in a Blanket

Hot Dogs. It’s the meat of champions, especially in the summer time, right?! If you look in my fridge right now, that’s what you’ll find. Grill them. Or poke a stick in them and roast those babies around a fire. They’re always a family fave. Today though, we’re sharing our yummy Cheesy BBQ Pigs in a Blanket recipe. I remember munching on pigs in a blanket when I was a kid. We’ve since upgraded the regular old pig in a blanket and made them all cheesy and BBQ’ey. Same concept…just a wee more yummy.

Cheesy BBQ Pigs in a Blanket ingredients:

  • Bar-S Franks (we use Classic)
  • BBQ Sauce
  • Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • Canned Biscuits

Coat franks in your favorite BBQ Sauce.

Place on top of a canned biscuit, and then pile on the cheese. YES. I mean PILE it on!!!!! There’s no such thing as too much cheese.

Easy Cheesy BBQ Pigs in a Blanket recipe! Roll up each side of the biscuit, around the frank and pinch together. Then roll over on top of cookie sheet, pinched side down. Bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes or until biscuits are browned.

Easy Cheesy BBQ Pigs in a Blanket recipe! We buy Bar-S Franks because they’re a great value compared to most other brands. We always stock up on them, especially for family cookouts or when we’re feeding a crowd. Did you know they’re the #1 selling franks in the country?! Bar-S carries a large variety of franks including Classic, Classic Jumbo, Bun Length and Cheese Jumbo! For folks (like my dad) who prefer all beef franks, Bar-S also offers Premium Beef Franks. We always buy an extra pack of beef franks, just for him.

These aren’t your ordinary pigs in a blanket! We dressed these Bar S franks up in BBQ sauce and doused them in cheese before we wrapped them up nice and snug. #ad

Whip these southern BBQ pulled pork and coleslaw sandwiches up in less than 10 minutes! These southern BBQ pulled pork and coleslaw sandwiches topped the charts this week at our house. Yes’siree. Is that how you spell that? Yes. Sir. Ee.

Oh, and it literally took less than 10 minutes.

TEN MINUTES ya’ll!

Whip these southern BBQ pulled pork and coleslaw sandwiches up in less than 10 minutes! I mean, these things were bangin’! So much so that I found myself digging into the rest of the BBQ with a fork, cold outta the fridge at 2am. NOM! This week we were cleaning out some out buildings at our house. Just getting rid of the trash and stuff that my husband has tried to hold onto for forever. Like, broken lumber. Old insulation. Even the box our old coffee maker came in. Ummm. I’ve told him that his name is NOT Fred Sanford. Helllloooo!

Whip These Southern BBQ Pulled Pork and Coleslaw Sandwiches Up in Less Than 10 Minutes!Anywho! We had made plans to get together with friends and family afterwards. I knew that I was not gonna feel like cooking and spending time in a hot kitchen so I opted for these easy pulled pork BBQ and coleslaw sandwiches with a few sides, and cupcakes of course. I used the new Farm Rich Smokehouse BBQ because it literally takes minutes to prepare! We also used store bought slaw because I didn’t have time to make homemade.

Quick & Easy Food Prep & Cleanup Tips for Parties:

  • Have sides pre-made and ready to go (or buy store bought)
  • Serve canned soda or bottled water from an ice cooler (no cups laying around)
  • If serving ice cream, pre-scoop a scoop into individual cupcake liners and refreeze. Now you have already made scoops of ice cream ready to go when you need them!
  • Always use paper plates and plasticware to save on cleanup during parties!

Pick your favorite buns or rolls (we almost bought slider rolls!), pile your BBQ on and then pile your slaw on. Then dig in. That simple!   Whip these southern BBQ pulled pork and coleslaw sandwiches up in less than 10 minutes! These sandwiches are perfect for all of your parties this summer! Father’s Day is this weekend and dads love BBQ, right? Farm Rich Smokehouse BBQ is a new line from Farm Rich. They’re made with all natural premium cuts of meat and slow cooked in their smokehouse for hours and hours. They hand pull their BBQ and mix it with their custom blends of sauces. No artificial ingredients or preservatives and it comes frozen! In just a few minutes you can have HOT and yummy BBQ on the party table for your guests to devour….and believe me, they will! Plus, you can spend more time socializing and no time in front of a hot grill or in a stuffy kitchen!
