I’m sure that you all have noticed that every weekend I seem to slack off on my regular deals and freebies posts compared to through the week. There is a reason. All my Fridays and Saturdays are spent at a Primitives and Antiques shop that I co-own/operate.
We opened this shop up a couple of years ago and I work the weekend shifts while the other gal works through the week. That schedule works out great for each of us and I have to say that the shop has been a blessing.
My mom had always been the craftiest and most creative person I had ever known. I always said, as I tried to follow in her footsteps, that I never had a creative bone in my body. However, I found out that my creative and crafty side was there all along. It was just never made to come out until my sweet mother passed away. I always felt like as she passed, her talents flowed over to me. I know that sounds kind of crazy and Lord knows that any talent that I have is a minute drop in a bucket compared to hers. No one could ever compare to the talents that God blessed my mom with. She was the Queen of every type of craft that you could imagine.
Now, on to why I slack on my freebies and deals on the weekends. Since I work at the shop on Fridays and Saturdays, I rarely have time to sit down and post a deal. I do take my computer with me and there are times that I do have plenty of time to post stuff and I’m always glad when I do. It makes me feel like I haven’t completely neglected everyone!!
I really just wanted to mention this because I always feel like I’m playing catch-up every weekend. Plus I didn’t want anyone to wonder what happened to me….hahaha!
One more thing that I’d like to say. You all are probably thinking, “How in the world can you be frugal and collect antiques and primitives”? Well, I have to admit that most times those things aren’t cheap and Goodness knows they don’t have coupons for those things. That’s why I love flea markets, yard sales, and estate sales or auctions!! That’s where the good AND cheap stuff is.
Plus, finding old furniture that could stand a refinishing is a great way to save money on old pieces if you are the “do it yourself” kinda person. It’s also fun and I always am so excited to see how they will turn out when they’re finished.
Thank you for your understanding~
