Grilled Smores Sandwich – Creating Happy Family Moments

April 28, 2016 by Jenni 282 Comments

This post was sponsored by Hello Happy. Hello Hershey’s. as part of an Ambassador Activation for Influence Central.

Grilled Smores Sandwich. Such an ooey and gooey treat!

Grilled Smores Sandwich

Did you know that even the smallest thing can create a chain reaction of happiness? We all love to make our family happy, and it doesn’t really take too much – especially if it’s just a grilled Smores sandwich! Do these things make you happy?

  • a morning hug and a kiss
  • a surprise “I love you” text or lunchbox note
  • making the family’s favorite treat

Those are just a few things that instantly come to my mind…small things that make me happy.

Nothing suits a belly better than a grilled Smores sandwich! Ever had one?

Grilled Smores Sandwich. Such an ooey and gooey treat!

Buttery on the outside, and full of ooey gooey chocolaty and marshmallowy goodness on the inside.

Mercy.

You won’t believe how easy these are to make, here’s what you need…

Grilled Smores Sandwich. Such an ooey and gooey treat!

Grilled Smores Sandwich Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp. of softened butter
  • 2 slices sandwich bread (wheat or white)
  • 1 HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate Bar (or substitute with HERSHEY’S Chocolate Spreads)
  • 1 graham cracker sheet
  • 4 marshmallows, cut in half horizontally

Grilled Smores Sandwich. Such an ooey and gooey treat!

Grilled Smores Sandwich Directions:

  • Butter one slice of bread with half the butter. Place buttered side down in a cold skillet.
  • Break chocolate bar into sections and evenly place them on the unbuttered side of bread.
  • Layer with graham cracker, breaking to fit.
  • Top with marshmallow halves.
  • Butter one side of second piece of bread, and lay down buttered side up.
  • Heat over medium/low heat, until bottom of sandwich is golden brown. VERY VERY carefully flip the sandwich, and heat until the bottom is golden brown on that side as well. Remove from the skillet, cut and serve.

What are your happy moments throughout the day?

I’d love to know what little things make you happy! Maybe it can give me and everyone else a little more insight!

I’m really pumped to be working with HERSHEY’S on this Hello Happy Moments campaign. The idea behind it is to make us think about how to create happy moments – even in places or at times where we’re not usually happy, like during our morning commute, at work, or when our weekend plans have been rained out.

Check out this video. I bet you’ll cry, just like I did – so grab a tissue!

Blowing dandelions and makin’ wishes. ?????

9 Fun and Easy Ways to Spark Happy Family Moments:

  • blow dandelions, and make wishes!
  • have a family bake day
  • have a family dance off
  • surprise tea party or picnic
  • water balloon fight
  • weird family science experiment (something gross and gooey!)
  • pitch a tent in the backyard and roast S’Mores
  • family karaoke night
  • catch lightning bugs in a jar

Another fun family moment that’s coming up is “Take Your Kids to Work Day”. Although this day is officially set for April 28th, it can really be celebrated any day. It’s a great time to spark some fun, happy moments and for parents to show off their careers to inspire their kids to be whatever they want to be.

Tagalongs Peanut Butter S’Mores

January 29, 2016 by Jenni 1,191 Comments

peanut butter s'mores

Did you catch our Thin Mint Ice Cream Sandwiches post from yesterday? Yep! It’s Girl Scout Cookie time, and I wanted to re-share these ideas. I mean, Girl Scout Cookies are delicious on their own, right outta the package. But smushing things between 2 cookies. Well. Do I even have to explain how good that is?!

This post is an older one, but I wanted to update it and share it again because every home in America is being hit by the Girl Scout Cookie plague. You don’t wanna miss these……………….

DUN, DUN, DUUUUNNNNN.

Tagalongs Peanut Butter S’Mores.

Ohhhh, yes I did. Boy Howdy! I love smushing things between cookies. So – I hope you enjoy these.

IF you don’t have any Tagalongs, you can actually make Homemade Tagalong Girl Scout Cookies. My friend Andrea at Savings Lifestyle shows you how! Here’s a photo below of her yummy creation and the recipe is so super duper easy!!

peanut butter s'moresWhoops. Let’s try taking this photo again…

peanut butter s'moresLittle Man totally got away with that cookie!

You’ll need:

  • Girl Scout Tagalongs (or the Homemade Tagalongs recipe link above)
  • Regular size marshmallows
  • Baking Sheet (unless you’re roasting marshmallows outside)

How to Assemble:

  • Either roast your marshmallows outside (if it’s warmer weather) or you can roast them in your oven. Simply place enough marshmallows on an aluminum foil lined baking sheet, to make however many s’mores you want.
  • Turn the oven on broil (apprx. 500 degrees).
  • Put the pan with marshmallows in the oven and roast until just browned on top. Then pull them out and assemble your Tagalongs or other peanut butter cookie S’Mores.

*I kept my oven door cracked just a bit to keep a very close eye on them. They were ready in just a minute or 2.

**Don’t overbrown the marshmallows. I actually got mine a little bit TOO brown the first time around, but they were still sooooo good and gooey!

Enjoy!

Ooey Gooey Toasted SMores Bars

Is there ever really a time when SMores aren’t in order? I realize that it’s a camp-fire-y treat, and I realize that it’s nearing the end of January. I really don’t care. HA! These SMores Bars “mayyyy” be the best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth.

These ooey gooey SMores Bars are INSANELY easy to make and SO stinking delicious! It's the perfect S'mores dessert for at home on a weeknight or at your next family get together! www.sweetpenniesfromheaven.com

Since I believe that S’mores never actually GO into retirement at any given time during the year, these happened. Please forgive me while I woo these bars in my kitchen. Woo them right smack dab into my mouth. And with a cold glass of milk to boot.

This is SUCH a simple dessert to make. You won’t believe how easy it is. These toasted Smores bars are perfect for anytime and I hope you and yours enjoy them as much as – uhh – “me and ours?” do! That made sense, right?!

These ooey gooey SMores Bars are INSANELY easy to make and SO stinking delicious! It's the perfect S'mores dessert for at home on a weeknight or at your next family get together! www.sweetpenniesfromheaven.com

I recreated this recipe from Shelly at Cookies and Cups! She uses homemade marshmallow fluff in her recipe. I totally cheated, and used store bought marshmallow cream which is good in a pinch – but I imagine that the homemade is SO much better!

You’ll need the following ingredients…just remember that you can use store bought marshmallow cream like I did if you don’t have the ingredients or time to make the homemade fluff. The store bought fluff isn’t as pliable and spreadable as the homemade fluff is, so I ended up swirling the top of mine a bit, into the fudge layer, and then toasted it. Mmmm….Have Mercy!!!!

Crust
  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
Fudge layer
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
Fluff Layer
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ½ cup light corn syrup
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 egg whites
  • ¼ tsp cream of tartar
  • 1½ tsp vanilla extract

S’mores Cookies

If you’re not a fan of ooey gooey – warm and yummy cookies, then you might ought to just turn around and leave now. I wouldn’t want to be friends with you anyway…I don’t need that sort of negativity in my life. Now, my cookie friends, check out these insane S’mores Cookies!!!

Cookies are just pure pleasure. Especially when they’re warm, straight outta the oven. AND even more especially – when they’re filled with S’more gooey-ness! HELLO!!! These new Pillsbury Melts are INSANELY delish! They are filled on the inside with yummy goo and topped with a chocolate drizzle. Oh, and in 2 different flavors….Molten Fudge Cake and S’more Sensation! You can find both of these in the refrigerated cookie dough section. Which is where I spend about 85.677777% of my time when I’m grocery shopping.

pillsbury-melts-cookies

Baking was easy peasy…just like the other Pillsbury Ready to Bake Cookies, they’re already made into little cookie balls for you. SWEET! Just plop them on a pan and bake for a few minutes. After they’ve cooled a bit, just drizzle that yummy chocolate on top! Mmmm. Well, the whole pan was demolished within minutes. I’ll just say that much.

We tried the S’mores cookies and man oh mannnn. They were sooo good! I’m saving the Molten Fudge Cake cookies for this weekend. That way my husband can get at least ONE cookie before they’re el-gono! These cookies are perfect for anytime, but I’m sure I’ll be making these around the holidays too. So easy…and so yummy.

Which one of these new Pillsbury Melts cookies are you excited to try? Or do you just want to try BOTH?!

You might want to visit the Pillsbury Facebook page too, they’re always sharing FAN-flipping tastic recipes that are easy and delicious.
