I participated in an Ambassador program on behalf of Influence Central for Pernix Therapeutics. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
Do you suffer with insomnia?
Sleep. It’s a beautiful thing isn’t it. It’s even more beautiful when you can get a solid uninterrupted night of sleep. One without getting up and down all night.
We don’t realize how critical an uninterrupted night of sleep is to our mind, body and soul. It’s imperative for our immune system, our memory and other things that keep our bodies going.
I love having the excuse to drink tons of coffee during the day, but the truth is I’d gladly trade my coffee in for a good solid night of sleep. Sleepless nights are so common and it’s actually a health issue. 4 million Americans suffer from chronic insomnia. We have a difficult time falling asleep and staying asleep through the night. Tending to my family and running a business is difficult, especially when I’m having sleepless nights.
Here’s what my typical night looks like…..
Lay down on my side, with one leg sticking out of the blanket.
For the next 15 minutes, my mind is racing over the days events and what I have to do the next day.
Then I may fall asleep………
….for an hour or so.
Wake up.
Go to the bathroom.
Lay back down.
Doze off and on for 2 or 3 more hours.
Wake back up…..
….. turn on the TV or grab the current book I’m reading.
Fall back asleep.
Wake up when the hubby’s alarm goes off.
Yawn. Stretch. Coffee. Coffee. Coffee.
Do it all over again the next night.
Seeeeeeeeeeeee! People cannot function when they’re not getting a good solid night of sleep!
Check out these sleep stats:
– On average, nearly three-quarters of Americans (72%) are missing out on almost three weeks of sleep per year. That’s a whopping 470 hours of sleep ya’ll. Can I have that all at once?!
– Even though 62% of Americans suffer from symptoms of insomnia regularly, only 20% believe they have the condition and merely 12% have even been diagnosed by their doctor. That’s crazy!!
– Over 50% of Americans believe sleeplessness is glamorized – and that successful people who boast of needing less sleep – do so to express their “importance.” Well, I’m here to tell you that I WANT and NEED sleep!
There’s good news though!
There are effective treatment options that are available if you’re suffering with insomnia. If you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep through the night, just talk to your doctor. Explain to them your routine, lifestyle and your symptoms to come up with a solution for you!
