Proper Cleaning of your Car

February 12, 2014 by Jenni 20 Comments

Many millions of people use cars as their daily companions for transportation. Cars can be attractive with various styles and designs. Given the significance of the investment, you should do all you can to ensure that your car remains clean. Not only will this help you maintain a beautiful looking car, but it will also enable the car to continue functioning well into the future.

It is recommended that you clean your car on a mildly overcast day. This can prevent water spots from forming on your car. Cars can be cleaned using the following steps and methods.

Procedure 1: Cleaning the Outside

Procure the needed materials, including soap, a bucket, and a towel.

Organize them nearby so that you can save time and effort while cleaning your car.

Park the car in a shady area, for example, next to a tree. If your car has already been warmed by the sun, then let it cool for a couple of minutes before getting started.

Put your car cleaning soap in the bucket and begin adding water. Make sure the solution is bubbly and has enough soap in it.

Rinse off the car with water in order to remove dirt and accumulated debris.

Soak a washcloth into the soap and water solution then wipe your car, starting from the top and slowly making your way to the bottom.

Be sure after each wipe to rinse the wash cloth with water before soaking it again. This will ensure that the soap and water solution will not get dirty.

After applying soap, rinse the car with water again.

Use a rag soaked with soapy water to clean the wheels. You can even purchase a specialized wheel cleaning solution for an added level of cleanliness.

Rinse off the wheels and try to remove all of the accumulated dirt and grime.

Dry your car by wiping it with a dry cloth or towel.

Use a polisher on the car to ensure the removal of any oxidation.

If you want to give your call a glossy finish and help protect it from weather elements then you can apply a wax.

Apply sprays for shining your tires but be careful not to overdo it.

Apply trim preservatives on your car’s trim.

Procedure 2: Cleaning the Inside of Your Car

Use a vacuum to clean your car’s carpets and seats.

Next use glass cleaner that does not contain ammonia and a dry soft cloth to wipe your car’s windows. You should then wipe the windows with a dry newspaper in order to polish them.

Use a damp cloth with mild cleaner to wipe the dashboard, interior rims, and the steering wheel. You can also make use of cotton if the spaces are too small.

Additional Tips

If you cannot afford or do not have access to glass cleaners, you can use a solution of half vinegar and half water for your car’s windows.

Keep a little trash bag inside your car in order to maintain the cleanliness inside after the car has been cleaned.

Cars should be cleaned with care. They are very expensive so be sure to treat them accordingly. Only a few people own a car so if your part of that lucky group, then you should be grateful for what you have.
