Homemade Mocha Frappe Tips and Variations:
1. It doesn’t have to be pretty!
You don’t have to have the pretty cool whip and chocolate drizzle or sprinkles on top. If you’re making these for a party, then of course, you can doll them up.
2. You NEED a decent blender.
When I first started making my frappes at home, I used a smoothie maker. Those are great for frozen berries, but not ice. The blades wore down very fast. These Ninja Blenders are AH-MAZING!!! Not even kidding!! You can get really great deals at Amazon!
3. Customize your mocha frappe.
I’m not great at following this recipe to a T. I’ve made it so much now, that I just kind of dump everything in and add here and there as needed. Everyone is different, and that’s why I recommend starting with the least amount of syrup and sugar. Some like it sweeter than others. The same with the thickness. You can thicken with milk or thin with more ice or coffee.
4. Do you prefer caramel?
If you like Caramel over Mocha, then add Caramel Syrup instead of chocolate. If you prefer just an iced coffee, leave out the syrup. I like it that way too.
5. Don’t blend too much!
If you really like an icy texture, make sure that you don’t blend the ice too much. I like mine much icier in the summer months, than in the winter! If you get that awful brain freeze…then go ahead and blend the ice a little more.
6. Cut the sugar out.
If you can’t have sugar, you can totally use sugar-free varieties of syrups and sugar substitutes, like Stevia.
7. Cut the Calories.
Use almond milk to cut down on calories, along with the sugar-free variation above. We don’t have to give up everything we love, right?
8. Give it a protein punch.
If you need a protein punch in the mornings, add your regular protein powder to up your protein intake. This along with the other variations mentioned above for sugar/calorie reduction make for a healthier option.
9. Batch Prepare for the ENTIRE week.
